What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Veterinary Assistant or RVT position at Center for Integrative Animal Medicine?
Do you miss the good parts of working in a vet clinic? We are rewarded on a daily basis by having the time to provide low stress, high touch, high quality care for our clients and their pets. Our clients, they are fabulous! We are looking to add a part time "vet clinic veteran" to our small cohesive team of one doctor and 3 staff members who willingly take on any task. You would be working Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 am to 7pm and potentially additional regular hours.
PRIVATELY OWNED, the Center for Integrative Animal Medicine provides gentle, effective medical care utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine and alternative therapies including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, laser therapy, musculoskeletal manipulation, nutritional therapy and more.
Our services complement those provided by conventional vet hospitals. Our patients come to us for their alternative therapies and continue to see their conventional vet to provide routine & emergency care, vaccinations, surgery, dental cleanings, radiographs etc. Our typical patient has a grey muzzle, is medically complex and has a grateful family devoted to their pet’s quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Organizing and summarizing records from referring clinics
- Capture detailed exam notes real time during initial consultations
- Venipuncture, placement of IV catheters, collection of lab samples
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments
- Communicating veterinarian's instructions to clients, client education
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments, and procedures
- Managing patient flow, rooming patients, assisting with treatment
- Answering phones/email, scheduling, filling prescriptions
- Cleaning and care of clinic shared by staff
Qualifications:
- Experienced and confident in venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Minimally 1 year experience in veterinary setting
- Mature, confident, pleasant. Thrives on having responsibility and contributing. Works independently
- Impeccable attendance, solid work ethic
- Accepts and acts on performance feedback
- Good communicator both verbally and written. Good grammar, composition, spelling, basic math skills, able to type 50 WPM.
- Veterinary terminology: Proficiency in medical terminology specific to veterinary medicine.
- Animal restraint: Skill in safely restraining animals during examinations and procedures.
- Must be able to stand, sit at a desk, sit or kneel on the floor, squat and carry up to 40 lbs during an 8 hour work day.
- Proficient with MS Word/Excel, saving email downloads and attachments
