Individualized Placement Services Employment Specialist
Full-Time / Non-Exempt / Great Falls
Position Overview: The IPS (Individualized Placement Services) Employment Specialist works with local employers and community stakeholders to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment consistent with their vocational goals. An IPS Employment Specialist will have full understanding of the importance of competitive employment being part of a successful recovery path for those that may have employment challenges due to living with a mental illness or addictions. The applicant must be mission and values-driven, create relationships with local employers to develop employment opportunities for clients, possess a strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to be a positive role model for their clients. The IPS Employment specialist must have full understanding the 8 core principles of IPS and work in a manner that is supportive of the evidence-based practices that are required for a fidelity based model.
Job Duties:
- Investigate the local business community and develop relationships with employers by learning about their businesses, hiring practices, hiring preferences etc., over multiple visits.
- Investigates the local business community to learn about different employers and types of jobs available.
- Provides direct job support on a weekly basis for the first month to include wake up calls, teaching how to use the bus, coaching on the job etc.
- Collaborates with mental health practitioners, addictions counselors, VR counselors, family members and other members of the vocational unit (this requires attending weekly team meetings for client).
- Work will be completed in community settings (at least 65% of work week).
- Complete documentation and adhere to fidelity standards for all services provided per IPS guidelines and expectations.
- Assists with finding and accessing resources such as work incentives planning, local schools, available transportation, etc.
- May be required to become certified in IPS.
- Will be required to carry a caseload of up to twenty (20) clients.
- Performs other related services as required.
- Transports clients must have personal vehicle, valid vehicle insurance, and driver’s license.
- Participates in in-service training as directed by immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work and experience collaborating with people that are living with mental illness and/or addictions issues OR High School Diploma or GED and an equivalent amount of experience totaling four (4) years is required.
- Six (6) months vocational rehabilitation counseling, supported employment, case management experience preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
