Position Overview:
A professional who is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for planning and coordinating care and services to meet individual needs of clients with severe and persistent mental illness under the clinical supervision of the team leader and the psychiatrist. Performs professional counseling and case management work for individuals who have mental and/or physical disabilities present as a barrier to employment.
Job Duties:
- Provides case management for an assigned group of clients including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team (ITT); assumes primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the ITT, provides individual supportive therapy and symptom management, ensuring immediate changes are made in the treatment plans as clients’ needs change, educating and supporting clients’ families, and advocating for clients’ rights and preferences.
- Must maintain licensure in the State of Montana.
- Conducts comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history (e.g., onset, course and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, and risk behaviors), physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (e.g., self care, living situation, nutrition, money management) (attached); and family structure and relationships.
- Provides direct clinical services to clients on an individual, group, and family basis in the office and in community settings to teach behavioral symptom management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced with medication and to promote personal growth and development by assisting clients to adapt to and cope with internal and external stresses.
- Provides individual supportive therapy (e.g., problem solving, role playing, modeling, and support), social skill development, and assertiveness training to increase client social and interpersonal activities in community settings.
- Initiates and maintains relationships in coordination with other staff, with law enforcement and other human service agencies, and with informal community resources (e.g., landlords and employers).
- Performs emergency services both during and after normal work hours and performs on-call duty for crisis intervention and for staff supervision and consultation.
- May provide benefits counseling (Supplemental Security Income (SSI), veteran’s benefits, etc.
- Provides consultation to other employees as requested and participates in staffing of cases.
- Performs medication delivery, works rotating weekday and weekends, and must pass medication test.
- May provide consultation and education services to individuals, agencies, institutions, and groups as assigned.
- May transport client in private vehicle.
- Participates in in-service training and attends outpatient staff meetings as directed by immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a college or university with a Master's degree in counseling that leads to Montana licensure as an LCSW or LCPC.
- One year’s experience in psychiatric social work preferred.
- Licensed LCPC or LCSW is preferred.
- Must have personal vehicle as travel is required as well as a valid MT Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.

Entry Wage:
Candidate - $57,720.00 DOE
LCPC/LCSW - $66,081.60 DOE
