Principal Advisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE

CNA is hiring for a Principal Advisor, in the Energy, Infrastructure, and Environment (EIE) Program in the Resources & Force Readiness (RFR) division. CNA is a not-for-profit research and analysis corporation running two major business units, CNA, the Department of the Navy's Federally Funded R&D Center, and the Institute for Public Research. RFR is a division within the FFRDC. Our primary clients are the Navy and Marine Corps. We also support OSD and other components of DOD. Six programs within RFR address problems in manpower, personnel, training and education; energy, infrastructure and the environment; cost, acquisition processes, material and supply readiness and logistics; and health analytics and medical readiness.

The Principal Advisor will lead and support large or complex projects related to CNA, work and act as a subject matter expert, recognized across CNA. They will apply specialized expertise in complex and high visibility projects and become a partner with project directors or managers by providing them advice that can help develop, shape, and guide projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES

• Works independently to lead and manage the largest and / or most complex and significant projects that address a subject of expertise.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts to conduct research and analysis in support of projects within a given subject of expertise. Has a strong knowledge of other related fields and / or has developed a deep expertise within discipline.
• Lead the preparation of project reports and briefings.
• Provide expert level knowledge and expertise related to project development.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities related to a subject of expertise.
• Develop and maintain professional contacts with decision makers and contract administrators at targeted agencies.
• Lead the development of proposals and marketing efforts in areas of expertise.
• Advise management on planning, pursuit and success related to projects associated with proven areas of expertise.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
