Job Description
Center for Pain and Supportive Care is offering a full-time (32 - 40 hours/week) medical intern position for college graduates working toward a career as a medical clinician. This paid internship consists of working as a medical assistant in a cancer pain and chronic pain medical facility. Candidates will have the unique opportunity to engage in other aspects of a medical practice which will help guide their education and professional decisions.
Interns will spend time with each department, to include scheduling, authorization, front desk, and management; however, the majority of the time is spent with the providers (the medical director, our physician's assistant and nurse practitioner). Center for Pain and Supportive Care hopes to guide students such that they have a well-rounded understanding of a medical practice and the medical system, a knowledge that reaches beyond the lessons taught in school.
Responsibilities Include
Assisting providers in documenting pertinent information from each medical visit
Collecting patient vitals and preparing the patient and provider for each visit
Ensuring orders are carried out following the patient visit
Proactively handling patient questions and concerns
Impeccably providing a high level of customer service
Reviewing medical records for updates in order to anticipate patient and provider needs
Submitting charges for patient visits
Managing faxes, scanning, phone calls and emails from staff, patients and providers
Participating in additional intern opportunities as listed above
Actively helping the team in any area necessary to maintain flow and organization
