What are the responsibilities and job description for the Imaging Scheduler position at Center for Primary Care?
Education: High school diploma required. Must have or be able to obtain CPR certification within 6 months.
Experience: Prior experience using computer software, preferably electronic medical records. Prior customer service experience preferred. Experience with Medical Terminology and Imaging Scheduling preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for efficient and accurate imaging procedure scheduling in EMR.
- Coordinates with referral specialists to ensure proper authorization/precertification is obtained prior to procedure
- Provides imaging prep instructions to include dietary restrictions and exam specific preparations to patient.
- Maintain the efficiency of the schedule by scheduling patients in the next available time slot as well as ensuring time requirements for each imaging procedure is met.
- Effectively communicates with patients, families, healthcare staff and physicians.
- Reviews and evaluates scheduled appointments for completeness, and type of test ordered.
- Communicates scheduling concerns or problems to Imaging Supervisor.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines
- Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others
- Physical appearance and conduct is consistent with acceptable professional ethics and CPC standards
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes and making suggestions for improvement

- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Knowledge of Imaging Procedures and appropriate prep for the scheduled procedure.
- Knowledge of Insurance Verification, Pre-Authorizations and Pre-Certifications
- Ability to type
- Ability to identify emergent medical situations
- Demonstrate positive customer service skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking
- Attention to detail
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephone, calculators, etc.
Work Environment: Position is primarily in a well-lighted office environment.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.
