The Job : We're moving some of our design functions back in-house, so we're seeking a well-rounded designer who can own the visual brand and collaborate with the digital team in a fast-paced environment. This person should be a solutions-oriented, creative problem solver with strong project management skills.
The graphic designer will work on the digital team in the communications department where they will produce assets and source photography primarily for the Center's owned digital channels – social media profiles, email campaigns, digital ads, and website content – and other communications vehicles. The designer will also manage our digital asset management system and periodically handle design projects for other departments, including reports for print publication, materials for special events, and slide decks. As the Center is in a moment of transition for our visual brand, the graphic designer will apply a forthcoming style guide from an outside agency to our branded materials across platforms.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with a strong eye for detail who takes initiative and truly owns their work. The designer should also be experienced at receiving feedback and incorporating it into their designed products.
The position will be based in the Center's New York City or Washington D.C. offices. Covid-19 vaccination is required for all US-based employees of the Center.
This is a 2-year, fixed-term position.
Primary Responsibilities : The primary responsibilities of the Graphic Designer include, but are not limited to :
- Conceptualize, plan, and design collateral for the Center's digital activities – social media channels, website, digital ads, and email – and produce a range of additional projects to elevate the Center's brand, including event materials, Power Point templates, printed institutional publications and more.
- Apply the forthcoming style guide to designed deliverables. Work with the global social media teams to update their graphic templates and create new ones. Collaborate with digital video producer to evolve our chyrons and video graphics.
- Manage the digital asset management system. Establish best practices around file organization and photo sourcing, image storage, and image use for Center-branded deliverables.
- Handle incoming design requests and project manage them successfully.
- Partner with digital director to train programmatic and regional teams on brand templates and application.
- Manage relationships with outside vendors, including freelance graphic designers, print production vendors, and merchandise vendors. Work with printers and procures bids. Manage printing processes.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the organization. Represent the digital team and communications department well in cross-departmental spaces.
- Maintain fluency in design and digital content best practices and stay abreast of emerging trends.
- Execute rapid response moments with guidance from the digital director and social media managers. Note : These moments will sometimes occur outside of normal business hours.
Qualifications :
Compensation : The annual salary for this position is $93,000.
Duration : This is a 2-year, fixed-term position.
Union Status : This position will be part of the CRR Union, a shop within Local 2110 United Auto Workers—Technical, Office, and Professional Workers Union.
FLSA Exempt Status : This is an exempt position.
