This position is full-time on-site in Turners Falls, MA.

The Book Promotions and Newsletter Editor develops a deep knowledge of CRS' brand and imprints and their catalogs of front- and backlist titles and upcoming pipeline.  They are responsible for helping CRS to achieve its monthly, quarterly and annual retail book sales targets by strengthening existing and developing new reseller relations, managing advertising and campaign portals for a variety of resellers, including Amazon Vendor Central and holding buyer and advertising conversations aimed at increasing resellers' purchase of our retail products. This position is responsible for maintaining a catalog for each major reseller and for maintaining and orderly, easy to manage vendor files.  They will also be responsible for managing vendor accounts in Salesforce.

This position works across departments to ensure all advertising campaigns are project managed in a way that empowers marketing and sales to maximize the goals of the promotion / sale.

This position is also responsible for producing and evolving CRS' Retail Product portfolio of newsletters. They must have a flair for writing subject lines, calls to action and compelling copy with short lead times.  This position requires good editing, proofreading and content curation skills and the ability to quickly learn Salesforce and HubSpot.

This position is not eligible for teleworker status.

VENDOR RELATIONS

  • Develops a deep knowledge of the brands and imprints and their catalogs and uses that knowledge to inform all aspects of the book sales and promotions work.
  • Maintains updated vendor catalogs and associated pricing schedules.
  • Maintains orderly, easy to access and update filing system.
  • Conducts consistent buyer conversations / presentations / sales pitches with major resellers in order sustain regularly purchasing from major resellers and achieve annual sales targets for front- and backlist titles.
  • Collaborates with supervisor to develop and then execute on sales activities intended to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals for retail products.
  • Accurately uses item set-up in vendor portals, per the vendor, to prepare, present, maintain and update all titles to the vendor accounts on a regular basis.
  • Maintains a regular sales calls and outcome review schedule in order to sell our retail books through established, high-volume resellers and to grow low-volume resellers
  • Actively manages reseller account health based upon a set of established health metrics.
  • Prepares sales call and title submission materials.
  • Learns and continuously increases knowledge to maximize the use of Amazon Vendor ad campaigns and track sales and performance.

SALES AND PROMOTIONS COMPAIGN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for managing the seasonal selling schedule and prioritizing sales initiatives for the selling season.
  • Works closes with supervisor to plan and manage advertising and promotion campaigns for top resellers.
  • Provides clear and timely communication on all projects that is inclusive for all key stakeholders and at internal meetings including project launch, timelines and goals.
  • Collaborates with supervisor to manage the day-to-day vendor portal activities to maximize channel sales for front list, back list and re-orders.
  • Collaborates and effectively communicates with a wide range of staff to manage all vendor promotions.
  • NEWSLETTER PORTFOLIO

  • Produce, manage and grow our portfolio of retail product newsletters, on a weekly, bi-monthly and monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with writers and editors to produce compelling, accurate summaries and teasers about our retail products.
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues and contributors to contribute to the newsletter's blog or library or as appropriate.
  • Synthesize newsletter content for brevity and flair in order to engage them and drive website traffic.
  • Works closely with a wide range of staff in order to guide content writers for SEO.
  • Provide readers with links and calls to actions in each newsletter.
  • Track and report newsletter performance metrics.
  • Project manages the day-to-day newsletter operations.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to continuously improve on the newsletter's user experiences from signup to inbox, engagement and promotion as part of a growth strategy.
  • CROSS DEPARTMENT COLLABORATION

  • Collaborate with internal teams leads to plan key title promotions designed to meet annual growth targets.
  • Work other departments on seasonal sales materials, including specific materials for sales representative and conferences and trade shows.
  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure sales presentations and promotional materials are polished and of high quality.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to create and execute on a publicity plan for selected titles, particularly front list titles and best sellers.
  • Participates in in-house meetings (i.e., launch, planning, presales, sales conference, weekly marketing, and Monthly Strategic Business Planning).
  • Provides regular business and title feedback to via written reports, new title call reports, and in-person discussions.
  • Works closely with inventory management to secure appropriate stock and works with the retailers and wholesalers on emerging opportunities.

  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelors in writing, journalism, marketing required with at least 2 years of writing weekly copy on deadline, whether newsletters, general assignment news or social media, preferred.
  • Prior experience with and passion for books sales a plus.
  • Familiar with or able to quickly learn and demonstrate proficiency in using reseller vendor portals and understanding vendor requirements, Amazon Vendor ad campaigns and other organizational CRM software.
  • Readily accountable with the ability to build a project plan and manage to scope and timelines and consistently meet strict deadlines.
  • Able to accept and apply performance feedback.
  • Able to follow directions for writing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and to recognize when an SOP needs to be written.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including able to clearly articulate ideas.
  • Excellent attention to detail and impeccable follow-up in order to bring work to a completion
  • Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems.
  • Responsive and able to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
  • Proficiency with GSuite and Gmail.
