Job Summary : The Center for the Rights of Abused Children seeks a driven, creative, and collaborative attorney to join its Arizona-based pro bono Children's Law Clinic. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct legal representation to foster children, foster parents, kinship placements, and biological parents. You will handle a diverse caseload, advocating both in and out of court to secure children safe and loving homes as swiftly as possible. Responsibilities include removing barriers to educational success and safeguarding children's constitutional and legal rights. The attorney will also engage in training programs for legal professionals and the broader community to improve child welfare practices and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience in child welfare law and a passion for reforming the foster care system. Key Responsibilities :
- Provide direct legal representation in foster care cases, including clients who are foster children, foster parents, kinship caregivers, and biological parents.
- Represent clients in juvenile court, managing all phases of litigation, including intake, hearings, motions, trials, and appeals.
- Conduct client interviews, legal research, and case preparation.
- Participate in training and educational initiatives for attorneys, law students, and community stakeholders involved in child welfare.
- Engage in community outreach to raise awareness of foster care and advocate for systemic reforms in child welfare law.
