About Us : The Center for the Study of Services (CSS) is a leader in healthcare survey research, based in Washington, DC. CSS is an established nonprofit organization with over 70 full-time staff. Through our Health Insurance Exchange (HIE) department, we build and deliver web-based decision support tools to help consumers navigate healthcare choices. We provide plan comparison and provider directory tools to marketplaces across the country, including state marketplaces and both the federal employee and postal service health benefits programs. In each of our projects, our work includes acquiring, cleaning, massaging, and assembling data from many different sources into consumer-friendly interfaces. A signature feature of our plan comparison tool is our out-of-pocket cost estimate, which makes comparing costs of health plan options much simpler for consumers. Our team is focused both on delivering high quality service to our existing partners and we also look to innovate to find better ways to inform consumers in their healthcare decisions.
Position Overview : The Product and Data Analyst supports our health plan comparison tools, which we provide for consumers in various states and for federal employees and retirees, and other consumer facing information products and services. The Product and Data Analyst takes primary responsibility for executing key project and data related tasks. This work will directly support services we provide (e.g., our web applications) to partner organizations and information that consumers use to make important decisions. This position requires close coordination between team members and outside stakeholders to keep project timelines on track and to make sure results are accurate and actionable for consumers.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field.
- 2 years of work experience that demonstrates analytical ability, subject matter experience, and / or organizational ability (preferred).
- Ability to become proficient in writing SQL queries and procedures. Previous coursework or experience in programming, database development, or SQL (preferred).
- Fundamental technical skills using spreadsheets. Experience with programming languages such as Python and / or statistical software such as R, SAS, or similar statistical packages (preferred).
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or other data visualization software (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves with all aspects of product and data analysis, testing, data cleaning, and delivery.
- Understanding of general statistics, algebraic logic, and ability to interpret data.
- An interest in technology products and markets, especially in healthcare.
Salary Range : $60,000 - $70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule : This is a hybrid position that is required to commute to our Washington, DC office 3 times per week. Our current required office days are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third day of your choice. Our office is conveniently located by both the Farragut North and Farragut West metro stations. Our standard office hours are 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM.
