The Systems Administrator is a key member of the IT team, responsible for maintaining and improving a hybrid IT environment. This role includes system and network administration, end-user support, and participation in cloud migration initiatives. The position requires managing Windows Active Directory (on-premises and hybrid with M365), Exchange Online, centralized desktop and software management, mobile device management, and multifactor authentication solutions.
Additional responsibilities include supporting multiple LANs, firewalls, and switches, resolving service desk tickets, and collaborating with vendors on hardware and network issues. The role involves occasional travel across NYC’s five boroughs and may require off-hours work for maintenance or user support, with overtime compensation as applicable.
This is a hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration
- Manage Windows Active Directory (on-premises and hybrid with M365/Entra), Exchange Online, and Azure Virtual Desktop or Citrix environments.
- Maintain group policies, security permissions, file shares, and M365 licensing.
- Centrally manage endpoint devices, antivirus software, and updates using tools like Intune and PDQ.
- Oversee mobile device management and multifactor authentication (e.g., Duo).
- Configure and maintain printers through Active Directory and third-party tools.
Network Management
- Configure and maintain Aruba switches and SonicWall/Palo Alto firewalls.
- Supervise vendor installation and patching of network hardware.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on VPN configurations and core network connectivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN issues in collaboration with telecom providers.
Service Desk Support
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support through a ticketing system.
- Supervise outsourced technicians for on-site troubleshooting and repairs.
- Address end-user requests and escalate issues as needed.
Projects and Collaboration
- Support the migration to a full M365/Azure environment, including Intune, Purview, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Participate in infrastructure and cloud modernization projects.
- Contribute to the deployment and maintenance of Windows workstations, server hardware, and HP printers.
