The Center for Women and Families - Domestic Violence Coordinator

The Domestic Violence Coordinator will help to move toward our vision of thriving survivors in safe communities.

The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.

The Domestic Violence Coordinator is responsible for providing trauma-informed case management, court advocacy, group, and support to survivors of intimate partner violence to promote awareness, prevention, and self-sufficiency. The DV Coordinator will build partnerships with programs offered in Jefferson and the surrounding counties. This role is also responsible for training and mentoring new staff and models exemplary performance to all staff and volunteers while engaging in program initiatives with minimal direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma informed case management services to survivors of intimate partner violence, including client intake, assessment, case planning, case management, and referrals.
  • Facilitate support groups and develop curriculum for other educational groups for non-residential clients.
  • Attend DVO / IPO hearings with survivors. Support clients as they seek protective orders; discuss safety issues with all clients.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with community partners to promote positive relationships with Center staff and clients.
  • Provide community, school education and training, on subjects such as healthy relationships, bullying prevention, and intimate partner violence, keep up-to-date material stocked at partner agencies.
  • Facilitate New Advocate Training modules as part of 40-hour training for new staff and volunteers.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements.
  • The Center requires the basic round of COVID vaccinations and highly recommends boosters.
