Description

The Prevention & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for expanding The Center’s presence in the community by developing relationships, providing education, and increasing awareness of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assault (SA). This position collaborates with schools, universities, businesses, medical offices, faith-based organizations, and other community partners to educate and empower individuals on prevention, intervention, and survivor support strategies.

As a key community liaison, the Prevention & Outreach Coordinator facilitates training, strengthens partnerships, and enhances public engagement efforts to ensure survivors have access to trauma-informed advocacy and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage community organizations, including schools, universities, businesses, faith-based institutions, and healthcare providers.
  • Represent The Center at community meetings, coalitions, outreach events, and conferences.
  • Strengthen existing community partnerships and cultivate new collaborative relationships to expand survivor resources.
  • Promote The Center’s services and prevention initiatives through outreach campaigns, public speaking engagements, and educational workshops.

Training & Education

  • Create and facilitate training programs for new hires, staff, and community partners on IPV / SA prevention, survivor advocacy, and trauma-informed care.
  • Develop and lead public awareness presentations to educate the community on issues related to domestic violence, sexual violence, and power-based abuse.
  • Provide evidence-based prevention programming for youth, professionals, and community groups.
  • Adapt training materials to ensure accessibility and relevance for all audiences.
  • Survivor Support & Advocacy

  • Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and support for individuals impacted by IPV / SA as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between survivors and community resources, ensuring access to legal, medical, and social services.
  • Utilize trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches to support healing and empowerment.
  • Assist in the development of outreach materials to improve service accessibility for all populations.
  • Program Collaboration & Cross-Team Support

  • Participate in cross-team collaboration efforts to promote skill sharing, program enhancements, and effective service delivery.
  • Work closely with other advocacy teams to ensure consistent, trauma-informed messaging and program alignment.
  • Support the implementation of agency-wide prevention and awareness campaigns.
  • Data Management & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of communication, outreach activities, and client interactions.
  • Track and evaluate program engagement metrics to assess impact and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding abuse reporting, confidentiality, and ethical outreach practices.
  • Provide reports and updates to leadership regarding outreach effectiveness and community engagement progress.
  • Qualifications

    Skill Requirements

  • Strong public speaking, facilitation, and training development skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and service providers.
  • Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage all populations.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches to outreach and education.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, database management, and mobile technology.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience & Education Requirements

    Education :

  • Bachelor's degree required in social work, public health, education, communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in community outreach, advocacy, or a related field may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience :

  • Experience in prevention programming, community education, advocacy, or public health initiatives preferred.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care, case management, or crisis intervention is a plus.
  • Prior work with nonprofit organizations, schools, healthcare systems, or community agencies is beneficial.
  • On-the-job training required (approximately 3–6 months).
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements if operating a company vehicle.
  • Must have a successful background check.
  • Fluency in languages other than English is a plus.
  • Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel locally to provide community outreach, training, and educational programming.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods while conducting presentations, outreach, and survivor support.
  • Position may involve lifting materials for training sessions, outreach events, and community engagement activities—up to 25 lbs independently, and up to 70 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments, requiring emotional resilience and adherence to self-care practices.
