The Center for Workforce Inclusion is recruiting for a Shipping & Receiving/Property Technician position in the grant-administered Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program to work at the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL) operated by the Environmental Protection Agency based in Ann Arbor Michigan.
Role and Responsibilities:
This position will provide support at the NVFEL to ensure supplies, materials, and equipment are available to support the Laboratory’s daily operations; ensure shipments are received and delivered in a timely and secure manner; and records are provided to complete payment and property tasks. Duties include:
- Perform Shipping and Receiving (S&R) functions at the NVFEL - Implement systems to provide proper S&R procedures; verify materials arrive in good condition; secure deliveries when in control of S&R, and correctly route to the recipient.
- Update the NVFEL S&R databases, on the intranet and SharePoint sites, to reflect the status of shipments and deliveries expected, received, and processed.
- Analyze equipment and supply needs and make purchase recommendations; discuss requirements and/or needs with requesters; and use personal knowledge of inventory management practices to determine the equipment and supplies needed to support laboratory operations.
- Assist with the excess property program.
- Create and maintain database reports and spreadsheets, enter information on spreadsheets or databases for tracking, and analyze information.
- Perform property management functions when equipment and supplies are received.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must be a United States Citizen and able to pass a Federal Background check; Age 55 ; High School graduate with knowledge and at least five years of experience in material handling, logistics, storage, and distribution of materials is essential. Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20; good manual dexterity; be in good physical condition. Working knowledge of purchasing is desirable. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Have proficient computer skills.
Hours & Compensation:
Full-time position working up to 40 hours per week @ $33,696 per year (16.20 per hour), plus benefits including employer-paid health insurance and generous vacation/sick/holiday leave.
