Job Summary:
Assists individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities by performing a variety of duties including passing out medications and providing direct care to facility residents.
Qualifications and Training Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent; successful completion of an Oklahoma state-approved Medication Aide Certification course or other education which meets state certification requirements.
Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; auditory and visual skills; ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 25 pounds or less; satisfactory completion of post-offer, pre-employment physical as required.
A minimum of three months' prior nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include frequent bending, standing, walking; continuous ability for speech communication and hearing in order to communicate with residents, employees and the public, vision for reading, recording and interpreting information, ability to stand for long hours at a time, and the ability to lift/carry a maximum of 25 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Passes medications and gives treatments according to physicians orders and in accordance with facility policy, including insulin.
- May be required to provide shift reports on the status of residents and document in resident records.
- Responsible for notifying charge nurse of medications needing to be refilled.
- Assures personal and staff compliance to residents rights.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
- May be required to assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, and other activities of daily living.
- May be required to assist with psychosocial groups and or activities.
- May be required to develop and maintain accurate accounting of all resident personal property for assigned unit. Identify property and keep inventory sheet current.
- Monitors personal and staff compliance to all State and federal requirements including but not limited to blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety.
- Monitors personal and staff compliance to residents rights.
- Perform duties as set forth on Certified Medication Aide job description as needed.
- Responsible for promptly reporting to the charge nurse or administrative staff incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents' rights.
- Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the residents, employees, facility information and records.
- Maintains safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
- Complies with the Center of Family Love attendance policy.
- Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire.
- Participates in training, in-services, and meetings as required.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Center of Family Loves values of teamwork, respect, integrity, compassion and kindness.
