About the Center of Family Love
Center of Family Love (CFL) in Okarche, OK is a faith-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides residential and employment programs for adults with intellectual disabilities by cultivating their interests, skills and independence to live creative, productive and joyous lives. We are located 30 minutes west of north Oklahoma City.
Job Summary:
Provides quality long-term care to residents in an environment that champions their rights, dignity, health, independence, and individuality; implements specific procedures and programs; coordinates work within the department, as well as with other departments; reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responds to inquiries or requests for information; assists the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
Qualifications and Training Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent; successful completion of an Oklahoma state-approved Nursing Assistant Certification course or other education which meets state certification requirements. Must hold current Nursing Assistant Certification in Oklahoma or be eligible to obtain certification within four months of employment.
Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; auditory and visual skills; ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 25 pounds or less; satisfactory completion of post-offer, pre-employment physical as required.
A minimum of three months' prior nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include frequent bending, standing, walking; continuous ability for speech communication and hearing in order to communicate with residents, employees and the public, vision for reading, recording and interpreting information, ability to stand for long hours at a time, and the ability to lift/carry a maximum of 25 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide quality nursing care to residents in an environment which promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality.
- Provide individualized attention to residents.
- Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provide support to the resident according to the care plan.
- Contribute to the care planning process.
- Attend to the individual needs of residents which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating, or other needs in keeping with the individuals' care requirements.
- Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services to them. Interact with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
- Assists with getting residents to and from their Program’s classes and engage with the residents the entire time.
- Assists with teaching the residents during Program’s classes
- Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment and report environmental deficiencies to the charge nurse.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
- Perform various tasks assigned by the charge nurse including vital signs, residents' weights, applying creams/ointments, collecting specimens, etc.
- Cooking and housekeeping duties, as assigned.
- Assist with orienting residents and their families to the campus upon admission and to the unit when transfers occur.
- Lift, move, and transport residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.
- Engage, communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Complete certified nursing assistant records documenting care provided or other information in keeping with departmental policies.
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
- Walk extensively to and from various locations of the unit while making rounds and transport residents within the facility.
- Responsible for promptly reporting to the Administrator incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents' rights.
- Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the residents, employees, facility information and records.
- Maintains safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
- Complies with the Center of Family Love attendance policy.
- Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire.
- Participates in training, in-services, and meetings as required.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Center of Family Love’s values of teamwork, respect, integrity, compassion and kindness.
