Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Manager - Fundraising to assist our fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful fundraising across multiple sectors, including government, state, local, philanthropic, corporate, and individual donors. This role requires a strategic thinker who is passionate about community development and can effectively engage and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. This role will work under the direction of the Director of Development and as part of a three-person fundraising team that includes the Development Associate.
Admin:
- Oversee the management of the donor database
- Maintain comprehensive records of fundraising activities, donor interactions, and funding sources
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory donor reporting requirements
Leadership:
- Provide direct and strategic guidance, supervision, and support for professional development training to all direct reports
- Work closely with the senior leadership team to align fundraising strategies with the organization's goals and priorities
- Provide bi-weekly supervision and guidance to all direct reports
- Execute all fundraising events, ensuring they are well-organized, well-attended, and financially successful
Project Management:
- Lead and manage all fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they meet financial goals and enhance the organization's visibility and community engagement.
- Oversee preparation and presentation of funding proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, and other potential funders.
- Maintain delivery of key performance indicators for all development projects.
- Work with Programs and Data & Evaluation team to develop accurate and up-to-date development materials
Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's programs and initiatives.
- Create and oversee the execution of the annual development plan, setting clear goals, timelines, and metrics for success.
- Design and manage donor campaigns, special fundraising events, and other major initiatives.
Outreach & Engagement:
- Solicit and manage individual donor relationships and contributions.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors while actively identifying and engaging new prospective donors.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote fundraising efforts and achievements through various communications and channels.
General Center of Life Expectations:
- Maintain regular office hours
- Participate as an active member of Center of Life staff
- Adhere to all Center of Life's policies and procedures
- Attend all COL staff meetings, retreats, and mandatory events
- Meet bi-weekly with Immediate Supervisor
- Adhere to the security, accuracy and operability of the daily communication and program reporting needs of COL.
- Contribute to the development of a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- 5-7 years of proven experience in fundraising, demonstrating successful fund development from multiple sources including government, state, local, philanthropic, corporate, and individual donors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to meet with prospective foundations and donors.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with donor database software and management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to adapt to dynamic situations.
- Has been responsible for managing a fundraising budget exceeding $2 million, ensuring optimal allocation and financial stewardship.
- Exceptional research skills for funding opportunities and adept at identifying and cultivating new donors and funding organizations.
