Adult Literacy & Training (AdLiT) Instructor
JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Adult Literacy & Training Instructor
Reports To: Director of Adult Literacy & Training
Positions Reporting To: Not Applicable
Status: Part Time, Non-exempt
OVERVIEW:
To plan, organize and implement appropriate adult literacy instruction programming in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
DUTIES:
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
Use relevant technology to support instruction
Provide remote learning opportunities via Zoom (when applicable)
Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
Provide appropriate feedback on work; encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress, development and attendance
Develop student career plans to include goals, barriers, and timeline.
Apply appropriate classroom management actions to include disciplinary measures where necessary
Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
Participate in department, organization meetings and professional development activities
Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs
- In conjunction with CWI administration promote and develop community partnerships and maintain a
current knowledge of community resource to assist students with any barriers that may impede their
academic and/or career success
- Support career exposure activities for students using standardized methods and
processes
- Promote and provide Integrated Education and Training opportunities (when
applicable)
- Support and coordinate with WorkOne advisors and partner organizations for student referral,
case management conferencing, training or job placement
- Promote and provide follow-up services with students
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
Academic Credentials
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state
- Relevant teaching experience and knowledge of relevant technology
- Must be skilled in computer/technology based education and related practices Work Experience
Requirements
- Two years or more of teaching experience
Other Requirements
- Ability to work with Students in a classroom setting
- Ability to provide remote and in-person support to sites across the region (when
needed)
- Ability to travel, have a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage of
$100,000/$300,000.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week
