Job Summary: The job of Custodial Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of assisting the Director of Operations to ensure that custodial duties are delegated appropriately; that tasks are completed efficiently; assisting with planning, evaluating, and developing department programs. Assist in recruitment, development, evaluation and retention of staff. The position will provide input to facilitate the implementation of services to provide a safe and comfortable learning atmosphere.
Essential Job Functions:
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential duties:
- Analyze the needs of the department for the purpose of making recommendations for purchasing materials, supplies and equipment.
- Assess equipment and inventory supplies used by custodians for the purpose of distributing and reordering.
- Attending district and department meetings when needed for the purpose of identifying issues, giving recommendations, and communicating to the Director of Operations.
- Collaborate with the building administrators and Assistant Director of Operations regarding custodians for the purpose of providing input on performance and any staffing needs that help support the district.
- Collaborates with the Director of Facility Operations and external personnel (e.g. building principals, teachers, fire department, police, city utilities, AHERA, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
- Conducts routine and periodic inspections of all District buildings for the purpose of ensuring assigned tasks and projects are completed.
- Conducts continuing program and in-service training of staff (e.g. safety awareness and personnel development, etc.) for the purpose of keeping current staff updated with any new pertinent information. (Lead incentive programs)
- Collaborate with DOO to Create work shifts and building assignments for the district custodial staff for the purpose of ensuring positions are filled to support the district needs.
- Inspect all school facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of determining that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and security are maintained.
- Supervise snow removal operations, equipment operations, and ensure that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
- Coordinate daily schedules (i.e. snow removal, training new personnel, event coverage)
- Supervises custodial staff for the purpose of ensuring daily functions that support the district buildings are being fulfilled.
- Provide support to the team in absence of staff.
- Procure equipment, supplies, and materials needed to complete custodial duties.
- Ensure that custodial equipment is available and in good working order.
- Participate in and assist with delivery of information at staff meetings (monthly or as needed) and conduct special training related to best practices.
- Attend scheduled Work Sessions and Board of Education, and other related meetings as determined by the Direct Supervisor, and/or Board of Education and Superintendent request.
- Perform and assume all other duties as assigned.
