What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Projects-Based Learning (PBL) Science & Social Studies Teacher position at Center School?
Center School is seeking a Middle School PBL Science & Social Studies Teacher.
This is a combination position that encompasses both subjects through the lens of Project-Based Learning (PBL). The curriculum has been developed by an educational PBL consultant. We are now looking for the right candidate to fill this position!
Center School is a highly regarded 1-8 private school in Abington, PA with a successful 35-year track record of providing children who have learning disabilities with a personalized education to identify strengths, challenges, and build confidence. Focused on students with challenges primarily in language-based learning and ADD/ADHD, Center School accepts students at all grades and makes it a goal to transition them into traditional schools when they demonstrate mastery of strategies to support their successful lifelong learning.
The Middle School PBL Science and Social Studies Teacher facilitates engaging lessons for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades that reflect the goals and objectives of the PBL curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the learners in his or her classroom. Creativity is embraced and encouraged as teachers are given opportunities to exercise professional judgment and customize the curriculum.
Qualifications: A valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in Secondary Science (7-12) and/or Social Studies; or Middle Level Science and/or Social Studies 4-8 is required. At least two years of experience in teaching science and teaching students with learning disabilities is preferred. Candidate should possess a solid understanding of technology implementation into the curriculum. State Clearances are required by law prior to employment.
