Position Summary
The Receptionist is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience during phone conversations and in person encounters.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
- Triage all incoming telephone calls and direct the call to the appropriate person.
- Schedule patient appointments, following standard procedures for length of appointment based on patient classification (complex patient, new patient).
- Contact patients two days prior to the appointment to remind them of the appointment and any necessary paperwork or income materials that they will need to bring to their appointment.
- Prepare paperwork or any other necessary information that the patient will need.
- Prepare patient charts including entering all pertinent insurance information.
- Greet and check in patients as they arrive for their scheduled appointments. Ensure that new patients receive the appropriate paperwork to be completed. Check out patients who have completed their appointment.
- Receive and submit patient payments. Maintain a daily log of payments and ensure that payments are properly posted to all patient accounts.
- Clock in time for the opening receptionist in both medical and dental areas will be no earlier than 7:45 am. to begin checking in patients by 7:50 am.
Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in customer service in a medical environment. Examples of appropriate prior experience include medical office reception, inpatient unit clerk, or retail pharmacy.
Skills and Knowledge
- Computer skills.
- Verbal and written communication.
- Medical terminology helpful.
- Positive and upbeat attitude.
- Maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
