What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barge Superintendent position at Centerline Logistics Corporation?
Overview
Monitor the condition and maintain CLA coastal and inland barges. Provide information to Engineering team to develop & maintain capital expenditure budget for the barge fleet, oversee repair & maintenance of equipment, manage purchasing and inventory levels. Develop work scope packages and oversee dry dockings. Monitor compliance of all documentation & regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned by Management.
Responsibilities
- Develop & maintain capital expenditure budget for barges.
- Oversee Vessel Repair and Maintenance Program for the barge fleet.
- Monitor compliance of documentation & regulatory requirements.
- Oversee dry docking & maintenance projects on barges.
- Vessel repair and maintenance costs versus budget.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned.
- Represent the company from a customer standpoint when needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Four year college education in Maritime or related studies or equivalent maritime experience.
- Experience in performing inspections of vessels to repair & maintenance standards and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of oil barges.
- Knowledge of barge maintenance systems and equipment.
- Ability to communicate with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible maintenance experience in the maritime industry
- Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the phone.
- HAZWOPER (including Incident Command System) training within 30 days of being hired.
- First Aid & CPR training.
- Valid Driver’s license.
Job Condition and Environment
- Frequently required to board tugs and barges, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.
Expected Hours of Work
- Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning changes in schedules and conditions.
