Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software to handle various payroll-related tasks.
Duties
- Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked and deductions.
- Process certified payroll weekly.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources department on benefits administration and employee records.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports, tax filings, and year-end documentation.
- Stay updated on payroll-related laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Employee Support & Records Management
- Address employee payroll inquiries, including pay discrepancies, tax withholdings, and direct deposit issues.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including timekeeping, benefits deductions, garnishments, and PTO accruals.
Auditing & Reporting
- Prepare annual reports for Form 5500 filings.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll transactions to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management, including labor cost analysis and compliance reports.
- Assist in payroll-related audits and provide necessary documentation as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance Business Administration, or related field preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably experience with certified payroll.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with payroll systems, Vista experience a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll laws, FLSA, wage and hour compliance, Texas Payday Laws and tax regulations.
