Center Point Energyis looking for anAssociate Gas Controllerto join ourGas ControlTeam, located inHouston, TX.
You will have the ability to: Performs duties of controlling system flow from supply to delivery point, including trouble-shooting system problems and adjusting flows to meet contractual obligations and maintain system integrity. Communicates operational issues such as gas feed, outage information, and facility status to internal and external clients. Acts as primary emergency contact for industrial and large commercial customers.
- Provides gas facility information to field operations daily and when damages occur to the system such as gas flow, feed, pipe size, location, status, and possible outage information.
- Expedites repairs to the gas system by making recommendations for isolating damaged facilities, rerouting gas supplies, and implementing Gas Control Plans as necessary.
- Provides Gas Loss Calculations to Damage Prevention group.
- Communicates with field operations on changes to the gas distribution system and documents those changes to appropriate records to maintain a 'real time' status of the system.
- Communicates those changes to the appropriate work groups.
- Provides support to the System Operations work group for SCADA programming changes, daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field SCADA equipment.
- Monitors SCADA system and react appropriately to SCADA alarms by directing equipment changes/settings either remotely or through field personnel.
- Monitors and manage gas nominations to ensure that contract obligations are met by calculating usage and correcting imbalances daily.
- Provides Dispatch department and Customer Service department with gas facility and outage information when required.
- Works with all departments (Engineering, System Operations, District personnel, Dispatch, Customer Service, others) during critical gas usage periods to ensure reliable gas delivery to our customers.
- Serves as single point of contact for large volume customers and pipeline suppliers when emergencies arise.
- Provides clients with information and reports as requested.
- Monitors weather conditions and forecasts and project the effects of those changes to the pipeline network and compensates to meet customer demand.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years technical field experience in natural gas operations.
- An associate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge and experience of SAP, SCADA, GIS systems.
