Direct Support Professional
Responsibilities:
1. Willing to make a difference with those having a disability.
2. Executing, implementing, and evaluating active treatment programs for the Clients.
3. Preparing and serving meals while following dietary guidelines.
4. Direct care services to include bathing, showering, dressing, toileting or changing incontinent briefs (diapering),
and oral hygiene. Supporting the Client’s activities of daily living (ADLs). May also include:
a. Budgeting.
b. Meal Preparation, laundry, medication management, light housekeeping.
c. Taking to doctor appointments.
d. Taking to day programs or to and from employment.
e. Going to movies, out to eat, retreats, site seeing, shopping, haircuts, and various activities.
f. Activities of daily living.
5. Supporting and monitoring with Client’s assistive medical devices. Assisting as needed (i.e. pushing of
wheelchairs) in getting the Clients to their activities, daily living needs, and jobs.
6. Supervising and participating in activities with the Clients that may improve their social skills.
7. Continue to learn and understand the developmental needs of Clients being served.
8. Encouraging, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the Clients to improve their skills and abilities.
9. Ensure a fun and safe environment for the Clients, family, guardians, visitors, team members, etc.
10. Supporting the Clients to integrate in the communities and function as independently as possible.
11. Observing, reporting, and documenting the behaviors of the Clients.
12. Execute the required paperwork for billing, timesheets, incidents, etc.
13. Ensure the outlined schedules and Person Centered Support Plans (PCSP). specific to each Client’s are followed.
14. High level of communication skills with the Clients and staff members.
15. Able to re-direct the Client as necessary both verbally and physically.
16. Able to work with prescribed behavioral plans to manage aggressive, abusive-type, and non-compliant Clients.
17. Ability to lift potentially 50 pounds as per situational needs arise.
18. Responsible to the time schedule and shifts assigned. Be on-time.
19. Flexibility to work with other team members and the Company with whatever is needed.
20. Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Previous caregiving experience in related field preferred.
2. Clear all background check requirements.
3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
4. Excellent verbal & written communication, teaching, and customer service skills.
5. Must complete all trainings in accordance with State and Federal guidelines as required.
6. Passion and patience to work with those with disabilities.
7. Ability to function autonomously.
8. Must possess reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and valid auto insurance coverage.
9. Certification, registration, or licensure for professional services provided as appropriate.
10. Positive attitude.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.75 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
Salary : $14 - $15
