WHO YOU ARE

You understand the delicate and vital balance between professional boundaries and interacting as a Peer, and you excel at building strong rapport with others. Using your own experiences, knowledge, and outstanding organizational skills, you navigate complex resources and systems with ease in order to benefit the persons served. Your time management skills are second to none, and you're motivated by the opportunity to help others find success in their recovery journey.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Utilize your personal insight as an expert in the recovery process, symptom management, and client choice to engage persons served in their own treatment

- Lead groups and discussions for consumers in long-term, co-occurring residential treatment

- Provide peer counseling and support, promote hope and empowerment, advocacy, and problem-solving with consumers

- Utilize Intentional Peer Support methods to build relationships with individuals receiving services for their mental health and substance use issues

- Assist in managing the waitlist for individuals waiting to be admitted into residential treatment, and maintain frequent contact with those before they begin their treatment

- Work cooperatively as a team member to suggest appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure that immediate and appropriate interventions are provided

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- High school diploma and two or more years of experience in working with adults who are struggling with or have severe and persistent mental health challenges

- Education in recovery principles (formal training in a recognized peer support program preferred)

- Must have persistent mental health challenges and have received mental health services.

- Demonstrate self-knowledge and management of their own mental illness; must be well along in their recovery

Licensing or other requirements:
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean DMV record.
