Duties
As a Health Communication Specialist you will :
- Develop, implement, and manage national communication and marketing programs, projects or initiatives for various audiences.
- Ensure that health communication activities are based on theory and use accepted principles, methods, and practices.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to internal and external groups (e.g., CDC staff and local, state, and international partners) about health communication and marketing program, project, and strategy development and implementation.
- Provide guidance and expertise for developing, testing, and disseminating science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages (i.e., via written, electronic, and audiovisual formats).
- Contribute to the management and oversight of state, regional, or national public health communication and marketing projects and campaigns.
- Conduct and manage audience research and program evaluation activities for health communication and marketing.

Minimum Qualifications :
For GS-12 :
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience : planning, developing and implementing public health communication campaigns.
For GS-13 :
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience : leading, implementing, managing and / or evaluating public health communication campaigns.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
FOREIGN EDUCATION : Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
