What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Foundation position at Centers for Youth and Families, INC?
A. Manages Development Program For Agency
1. Meets with prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish
effective communication with them
2. Grows a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of
major donors
3. Builds the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest
expectancies
4. Directs the annual fund program including mailings and annual fundraising drives
5. Directs capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives
6. Coordinates fundraising special events
7. Directs employee fundraising drives
8. Manages the production of newsletters for donors, corporations, families and
community leaders
9. Manages the design and execution of direct mail campaigns
10. Serves as lead staff for Foundation Board of Directors and Foundation Committees
11. Oversees prospect research
12. Works closely with President/CEO and Agency Board of Directors
13. Makes public appearances and accepts speaking engagements to share information
about the Centers for Youth and Families with the community
14. Attends Committee meetings
15. Supervises and collaborates with other fundraising staff
16. Prepares all materials needed for fundraising, etc.
B. Administrative Duties
1. Prepares annual budget, managing operating expenses and making adjustments as
needed or requested
2. Assumes responsibility for selection, placement, management and evaluation of
Foundation employees
3. Works directly with Foundation board and committee members to carry out the
mission of the Centers for Youth and Families
4. Assumes responsibility for safeguarding confidential donor/volunteer information
5. Creates, implements and maintains the donor tracking system to ensure timely
expression of thanks and activities to encourage continued support
6. Generates and provides reports from the donor record keeping system as needed
7. Reports all new pledges to Accounting Department immediately after receiving
pledges
8. Delivers all money received directly by Foundation staff to Accounting
Department immediately
9. Works with Accounting Department as necessary to ensure all pledges and pledge
payments are recorded
C. Manages Volunteer Involvement
1. Oversees volunteer support group, Emerging Leaders
2. Directs the management of Emerging Leaders membership records and membership
recruitment
3. Oversees and provides staff support for all Emerging Leaders’ special events
4. Creates and implements volunteer recognition system, including annual volunteer
recognition luncheon
5. Oversees volunteer program to include needs assessment, recruitment, screening,
placement, orientation, tracking, follow-up, training, evaluation and recognition.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
Five years progressive experience in professional fundraising
Must embrace the mission of Centers for Youth and Families
Possess strong interpersonal and writing skills
Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising
Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers
Have the desire to build external relationships through networking outside of the office
Must be goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
Must be organized and follow through on tasks and goals
Must display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
