Capacity Management Intern

The role of the Data Center Capacity Management Intern will be responsible for Data Center asset capacity and reporting as it relates to space, power, cooling and Data Center connectivity.  Will interact with Capacity Management and Provisioning, Network Capacity Management, Data Center Operations, Engineering, Project Management, Product and IT. The role will analyze opportunities for Data Center capacities to optimize builds, expansions, augments and acquisitions. The successful candidate will possess strong Data Center business acumen, understanding of UPS/PDU power capacity, cooling capacity and fiber/copper connectivity.  This role requires strong and effective communication skills for consulting with various organizations. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain excellent relationships with internal organizations to include Finance, Product, Engineering, DC Ops and Project Management. 
• Integral role with new builds, expansions, augments and acquisitions as it pertains to power, cooling and network infrastructure, responsible for design and input for internal infrastructure.
• Manage receiving all construction turn over documents and ensure all systems are updated with the infrastructure for management and reporting of the devices.
• Participate with the Build Team and Engineering on any equipment refresh projects for power and cooling to ensure changes are documented on all as-builts and systems as required.
• Interface with various internal organizations for capacity build requirements for new or existing products sets.
• Ensure all infrastructure data points are represented for space, power, network and conduits for accurate capacity management and reporting.
• Participate to provide solutions for overloaded UPS/PMM/RPP’s and cooling by working with Engineering and Data Center Operations. 
• Identify a conduit standard and develop a repository with criteria to be audited, documented and reported for all Data Centers globally, create a conduit capacity report for all DC’s.

Required Qualifications:

• Thorough understanding of data center environments, to include engineering principles regarding Data Center power, cooling and networking
• Ability to work successfully in both a team environment and independently
• Ability to manage and balance multiple priorities for timely completion
• Demonstrate problem solving skills and experience delivering innovative solutions
• Proven analytical, planning and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Results-oriented and people-oriented approach with sound judgment and ability to balance business considerations
• Experience in researching and analyzing information to drive decision-making, issue resolution, or program enhancement recommendations
• Proficiency with reading and understanding one-line power paths

Preferred Requirements:

• AutoCAD or BricsCAD experience.
• Operational knowledge of electrical distribution to include UPS’s, PDU’s, RPP’s.
• Operational knowledge of cooling distribution to include CRAH/CRAC’s, RTU’s, chilled water systems and air balancing procedures.
• Basic Data Center network infrastructure and connectivity knowledge throughout and between our global Data Centers.
