I. POSITION PURPOSE
The Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for Centersquare is responsible for
leading the strategic growth of the organization through the identification, evaluation,
negotiation, and integration of acquisition and partnership opportunities. This role focuses
on expanding the company’s footprint, enhancing its service offerings, and driving revenue
by targeting complementary businesses and assets. The Vice President M&A collaborates
closely with executive leadership to align deals with corporate objectives, conducts rigorous
financial and operational due diligence, and ensures seamless post-transaction integration.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Opportunity Identification
• Identify and evaluate potential acquisition or partnership targets within the data
center sector, including operators, infrastructure providers, and technology
innovators.
• Monitor industry trends such as cloud adoption, edge computing, and hyperscale
demand to inform M&A strategy and uncover new opportunities in key markets.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of data center assets and companies aligned
with organizational growth and geographic expansion objectives.
Business Case Development
• Lead due diligence on data center targets, assessing financials, facility performance,
technical capabilities, customer contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and refine business cases for each opportunity, quantifying synergies such as
increased capacity, expanded customer base, and enhanced technological capabilities.
• Prepare executive and board-level presentations that clearly articulate the strategic
rationale, financial impact, and integration requirements for proposed transactions.
Deal Structuring and Execution
• Manage leadership and finance negotiations on deal structure, valuation, terms, and
integration plans specific to data center assets and operations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, engineering, operations, IT) to
ensure thorough risk assessment and smooth deal execution.
• Manage relationships with external advisors, brokers, and investment banks
specializing in data center transactions.
Operational Integration
• Oversee post-acquisition integration of data center facilities, technologies, and teams,
ensuring seamless transition of operations, systems, and customer support.
• Develop and implement integration playbooks.
• Define, coordinate, unify and track key milestones and KPIs such as uptime, capacity
utilization, customer retention, and operational efficiency to measure integration
success.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to integrate HR, IT, finance, sales, and facility
management processes into the existing data center portfolio.
• Develop post-mortem and process check-ins as appropriate.
Leadership and Stakeholder Management
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing M&A team with expertise in data center
operations, technology, and real estate.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on data center M&A trends, regulatory issues, and
industry best practices.
• Cultivate and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including
executive leadership, investors, and strategic partners, to ensure alignment and
support for M&A initiatives I the data center space.
III. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or
Master’s) preferred.
Experience
• 10 years of experience in business mergers and acquisitions preferably within the
data center or technology sector.
• Proven experience in leading large-scale expansion projects and driving cost
optimization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and technology real estate.
Skills
• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term planning with immediate
operational needs.
• Deep knowledge of data center operations, facility management, and energy
efficiency best practices.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop and present detailed ROI analyses.
