What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Centerville City Schools?
Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students with special needs
- Provide support and guidance to students in various subjects, including math and literacy education
- Collaborate with the teacher to assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students
- Care for student's self-help needs including feeding, toileting, and lifting
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies
- Support students in their social and emotional development
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students as needed
- Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to obtain an Educational Aide License from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
- Familiarity with classroom routines and procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed
