Competitive Pay - $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Centex Materials is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking Plant Maintenance Technician to support our ready-mix production plants in the Austin market. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to dive in, willing to face new challenges, and is excited about building a career with Centex Materials. Problem solving initiative with previous ready-mix dry or wet batch plant experience preferred; technical degree is a plus but not required!
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
- Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
- Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
- Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Safety mindset at all times is a must.
- Run front end loader when needed to keep up with production demand.
- Maintain a clean environment at all plant locations, including your own workspace.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED WHERE REQUIRED OR REQUESTED)
- Majority of work is performed outdoors.
- Exposure to elements of weather to include extremes in heat, humidity, cold, dust and moisture for extended periods.
- Occasionally/frequently exposed to rough, muddy and icy surface conditions.
- Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and plant vibration.
- Frequent exposure to cement, concrete, admixtures, dust, diesel fuel, and other substances that may cause burns, be toxic or explosive if handled incorrectly.
