Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.
Duties and Responsibilities Include :
Assess functional vision through testing, observation, consultation, and reading of ophthalmologist or optometrist’s reportsParticipate in educational staffings concerning individual studentsDevelop and implement IEP goals / objectives in conjunction with the IEP teamProvide instruction to visually impaired students as stated on IEPIdentify the needs of students with visual impairments and monitor / consult / provide direct instruction to the students in the least restrictive environmentOrder, adapt, create and utilize all instructional curricular materials necessary and procure and correctly utilize adaptive equipment for meeting the full academic potential of those children with visual impairments in the regular classroomProvide consultation to school personnel concerning the student’s functional visionTrain teachers on needed classroom modifications, and how to utilize adapted materials and equipment.Provide support and assistance with parent education and understanding of student’s visual problemsMaintain appropriate records and service logAttend staff meetings and professional meetingsOther pertinent duties as assigned by Director or designated administratorRequirements include :
Must have LBS1 certificationMust have Illinois Professional Educator License with Visually Impaired EndorsementPEL should be up to age 22Must have a car, will travel throughout the district during the week (not during the day).About Centra :
