Centra Healthcare Allied is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) to work in a school setting.
Job Requirements and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, incorporating provisions outlined on each student's IEP.
- Evaluate and assess student progress using standardized measures, curriculum-based assessments, and teacher-prepared tests, grading completed student work throughout the school year.
- Provide instruction tailored to meet the educational needs of students, utilizing approved teaching strategies and techniques.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork in advance of IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective implementation of IEPs.
- Collaborate with parents, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, and other team members to develop and monitor goals and objectives for individual students, employing data collected to inform instruction.
- Lead and deliver instruction to students, consulting with other staff as needed to address student concerns or progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's performance and progress, completing quarterly Progress Reports as required and including descriptive information.
- Address and provide for students' social and emotional needs, working with other staff as necessary to ensure a safe and secure classroom environment.
- Supervise classroom teacher aides and coordinate the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans as necessary.
Requirements
- LBS1 Certification.
- ISBE Approved PEL.
- Endorsement in specific teaching assignment.
