What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT Transporter Pace - Gretna PACE/Full Time Days position at Centra Medical Group?
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Transporter administers basic life support care and transportation to injured or sick patients. This position assesses injuries, administers emergency medical care, and may extricate trapped individuals. This position partners with an EMT Intermediate or a Paramedic on all emergency calls.
Required : High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred : Associate degree in healthcare, applied sciences, or related field.
Preferred Experience : Experience working for emergency medical services agency or volunteer organization.
Required Certification & Licensures: Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification from Dept of Fire Programs or Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squad (VAVRS).Current valid State of Virginia Driver's License; must have and maintain zero to 5 points on your Virginia State Driving Record.
Provides routine, non-emergent care and transportation to patients as needed by ambulance, wheelchair van, or other transportation sources.
Administers first aid treatment or basic life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings.
Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as stomach suction, airway management, or heart monitoring, during ambulance ride.
Observes, records, and reports the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment.
Immobilizes patient for placement on stretcher and ambulance transport, using backboard or other spinal immobilization device.
Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
Operates equipment, such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), external defibrillators, or bag valve mask resuscitators, in advanced life support environments.
Maintains vehicles and medical and communication equipment and replenish first aid equipment and supplies.
Communicates with dispatchers or treatment center personnel to provide information about situation, to arrange reception of victims, or to receive instructions for further treatment.
Checks assigned vehicle at the beginning of every shift. Documents findings on the vehicle check list. Assures vehicle is compliant with Virginia State Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) regulations. Reports all maintenance issues to Transportation Coordinator.
Decontaminates ambulance interior following treatment of patient with infectious disease and report case to proper authorities.
Communicates with and updates the hospital on location and patient status throughout the duration of the transport.
Drives ambulances or assist ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescent persons.
