What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Imaging Equipment Specialist position at Centra Medical Group?
The Medical Imaging Equipment Specialist III (MIESIII) will, with no supervision, provide a variety of tasks including: repairs, calibration, testing and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure safe and appropriate operations. This position will also be responsible for performing electrical safety tests on clinical imaging equipment and acting as a resource for staff members who will use the diagnostic imaging equipment.
Required Education: Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience (to include equivalent military service experience)
Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology
Required Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years of imaging equipment work experience
Preferred Experience:
Required Certifications and Licensures: CRES ICC Certification or specialized OEM training. Candidates must be able to present a valid Virginia Driver's License
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging systems
Perform preventative maintenance and safety testing of diagnostic imaging systems
In depth knowledge in implementation and design of IT, computers, and networked systems
In depth knowledge in implementation and design of DICOM, PACS and networking
Maintains documentation of all activities and test results according to department policy
Acts as a resource to Centra staff in the proper operation and maintenance of equipment
May spend as much as 25% of their time on routine Biomedical Engineering work
May be required to coordinate and/or supervise vendor service technicians as needed
May be asked to help prioritize work efforts for Level I and II staff
Able to instruct others in the working knowledge/use of following tools/equipment: Oscilloscope, KVP meter, Medical Equipment test equipment and test fixtures, Digital multimeter, Signal generator, Soldering equipment, Light mechanical shop tools
Expected participation in 24x7 on-call rotation, to support functions for a variety of diverse industries, including: Healthcare, Hotel, Higher Education/College, Insurance
Leads efforts to evaluate new equipment
Leads efforts to mentor and train Level I and II staff members
Improves services by using feedback from staff, patients, and supervisor
Keeps up to date with new equipment and services
Applies and shares new knowledge, skills, and information at work
Maintains knowledge of new and emerging technologies
Maintains a written record of all training and learning activities
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time
