What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monitor Technician Virtual Sitter-Full Time 7a-7p-LGH position at Centra Medical Group?
The Virtual Sitter is responsible for the visual and auditory camera monitoring of appropriate patients’ and reporting changes or unsafe behaviors to the medical staff. The responsibilities of the runner include performing 12 lead EKGs, troubleshooting equipment, and provide general support for the monitor technicians and virtual sitters at LGH.
Incumbents should have excellent analytical and technical skills, detail oriented, as well as adaptability to change based on evidence-based practice. The patient monitoring team functions under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Required Education: High School Diploma/GED
Required Experience: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent technical skills for hospital equipment and medical software. Great communication and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Experience: 1 year experience as a Monitor Technician
Required Certifications/Licensures: CPR
Preferred Certifications and Licensures: EKG or Monitor Technician National Certification
Observing patients and notifying clinical staff of any adverse events
Proper utilization of verbal interventions and stat alarms for patients
Reporting adverse events and interventions through virtual sitter system software
Performs accurate monitoring of patients related to selected procedures
Cleaning and maintaining heart monitors and EKG machines
Report equipment repairs in a timely manner
Work as the runner for assigned duties
Assisting with the training of new staff in medical monitoring systems
Maintains knowledge of technological advances
Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time
