What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Buyer position at Centra Medical Group?
The Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day purchasing of pharmaceuticals.
Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience : Two years as hospital pharmacy technician.
Required Certification & Licensures: Registered as a pharmacy technician by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy Certified as a pharmacy technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Purchases drugs from the wholesaler and directly from pharmaceutical manufacturers. Determines purchase quantities.
Analyze B purchase opportunities utilizing TPA software to determine appropriate account for drug purchases.
Receives and stocks drugs for the pharmacy.
Scan all drugs received for bedside administration.
Purchase drug for contract pharmacies.
Returns drugs. Returns overstock and short-dated items.
Purchases controlled substances and maintains required records.
Adheres to pharmacy contracts. Monitors and communicates price changes.
Orders pharmacy supplies and IV fluids.
Orders office supplies, toner, and forms.
Optimizes inventories of drugs and supplies on hand. Maintains shelf labels. Assist with year-end inventories.
Communicates drug shortages.
Processes drug recalls.
Utilizes pharmacy and wholesaler and TPA information systems.
Processes manual charges and bills.
Process monthly department expenses utilizing the wholesaler interdepartmental billing module.
Process invoices for payment. Review invoices for accuracy. Code invoices with appropriate department and cost center. Send approved invoices to accounts payable.
Record invoices on spreadsheet for each pharmacy account.
Processes Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paperwork and monitors for regulatory compliance.
Reconciles patients manually-admitted to the automated dispensing devices.
Audits automated dispensing device reports for correct charges.
Assists with controlled substances audits.
Assists with drug packaging.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
