What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Officer Trainee-Limbo/BMH position at Centra Medical Group?
This job is a professional uniformed, first responder position within the Office of Public Safety that provides emergency, public safety, physical security, and protection and preparedness services to the Centra Health organization. Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- CPR and CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
- Required after hire for continuing employment:
- Successfully complete the FTO (Field Training Officer) Program
- Firearms proficiency certification according to State, Federal, and/or Centra Health standards.
- Defensive tactics certification, including Use of Force, according to State, Federal, and/or Centra Health standards
- Concealed handgun permit
NOTE: All applicants must be able to comply with all federal, state and local requirements for carrying a firearm, which include any applicable prohibitions on the use of controlled substances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior training and experience in guest relations, security technology, physical security operations, public safety, and/or emergency preparedness
- IAHSS certifications
- Monitors conduct of visitors on premises. Confronts and interviews unauthorized persons, as needed. Completes required documentation, including writing accurate, clear, and legible Officer Incident Reports.
- Monitor video footage, security, and fire alarms, and respond based on established protocols, and secures property or equipment to prevent possible negative outcomes.
- Responds as needed to "Code" calls (i.e. Grey, Red, Yellow, Orange, Silver, ADAM, etc.).
- Monitors the security and safety of parking lot, documents infractions, and enforces parking rules.
- Restrains patients who present a threat to themselves or staff according to hospital policy if requested by appropriate Centra Health staff. [A1]
- Prepares helipad for safe arrival/departure of all helicopter traffic.
- Provides notary public services.
- Ensures identities of, log-in/out, and/or release bodies from the morgue, funeral home, and in hospital dead on arrivals (DOA). Handles radio calls, as well as pages and requests for service.
- Performs other duties at the direction of the Sergeant and/or Public Safety leader.
