What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Patient Access- LAC Patient Access- FT/Days position at Centra Medical Group?
The Supervisor Patient Access Acute, working under the direction of the Manager of Patient Access, serves as a primary resource to the Patient Access Department staff and leadership. They oversee the registration process for all areas reporting to the Patient Access areas of which they are supervising including pre-registration and registration. (Eligibility, Price estimation, upfront collections, medical necessity checking and financial counseling, referring those patients to appropriate sources for follow up as needed.) The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day leadership for patient registration assisting with process, workflow, and escalations. This role will work to ensure on a daily, weekly, monthly basis that key performance indicators are met or exceeded thru staff productivity and system issue monitoring.
Education preferred: Some college in healthcare, business, or accounting
Experience required: 1 year team lead experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle, Emergency Room, or other clinical environment.
Certification preferred: Certification from a professional Revenue Cycle Organization such as National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM), and/or Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Certified Healthcare Access Association (CHAA), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Patient Account Technician (CPAT), (RCCM), or Certified Revenue Cycle Certifications (HealthStream)
Demonstrates flexibility to manage the Department by working additional hours.
Supports areas during peak times and performs job functions as needed for staff members who are sick, on vacation for FMLA leave.
Maintains adequate staffing for department hours and needs with Manager for on-call needs.
Ensures that department is fully covered at all times.
Receives and approves or denies time-off request with Manager as appropriate.
Assigns staff to cover peers as needed.
Performs job functions for position(s) when staff are sick, vacation or on FMLA.
Supports area(s) during peak times.
Coordinates volunteer utilization, including training.
Responsible for departmental orientation of new employees with team lead and manager.
Monitors new staff to assure scripts are being used.
Audits new employees' work for accuracy of demographic and insurance information.
Coordinates with Department Trainer to ensure policy and procedure manual is current.
Responsible for expedient resolution of problems or problem situations.
Maintains open and proactive communication with Nursing/Physicians, Financial Counseling, Medical Records and Patient Accounts Department to assure a smooth transit of information.
Coordinates monthly departmental staff meeting with managers and leads to improve process flow.
Responsible for team building and team development.
Maintains extensive ongoing interaction and/or department problem solving to improve service quality.
Assist in monitoring operational processes and making recommendations for changes/adjustments as needed during the implementation of change to new products or processes.
Works with Manager on evaluating job performance, interviewing/hiring, training/developing, directing/assigning/reviewing work, disciplining, scheduling, granting time off, and terminating.
