FEED OPERATOR AND DRIVER PM

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this role is to provide, accurately manufacture and inspect feed to meet customer specifications. This role will also deliver feed input accurately and efficiently to our customers as needed. The Feed Mill Operator will have an active role in operations, service, safety, and maintenance.

Essential Functions: (The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following)

• Assist in the efficient operation of the mill
• Provide accurate custom feed grinding and mixing services according to customer ration specifications.
• Assist with local mix schedule and prepare both local and custom mixes to specification to assure optimal feed consistency and quality.
• Samples ingredient, local mix, and customer mixes and retains them for analysis per requirements.   
• Accurately records each mix or service provided (job, sales, or transfer tickets) to ensure accurate inventory. 
• Follow all SOP documentation of good feed manufacturing practices with an emphasis on drug and micro ingredient record keeping. 
• Receive, store, and maintain inventory levels and advise manager on inventory replacement needs. 
• Unload bulk and bagged ingredients.
• Follow all closing procedures.
• Maintain and inspect the mill, warehouse equipment, and facilities regularly and report maintenance needs or improvement suggestions to management.
• Assist customers with unloading and loading trucks.
• Actively works to increase personal skills and knowledge.
• Feed mill and production areas are to be kept clean and orderly
• Provide accurate and efficient pick and delivery of feed inputs to our customers, while maintaining a good customer relationship
• Develop and maintain an efficient mixing system, loading and unloading system, while following customer requests
• Verify all items listed on the work order/sales tickets are loaded, delivered, and payment is collected
• Communicate safe storage and handling procedures to customers

• Accurately complete all invoices and related paper work in a timely manner.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Report all maintenance items to supervisor.

Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to skillfully operate milling equipment
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills, to include verbal, written
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and customers. etc.
• Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment
• Resourceful, self-starter with works well with minimal supervision
• Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
• Customer service oriented with ability to problem solve and manage difficult customer situations
• Results-oriented, accurate, and thorough with a commitment to accountability
• Understands and actively works with basic math concepts
• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn other key operational computer programs
• Must comply with current driver qualification requirements and our Drug and Alcohol Policy

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a feed mill environment
• Prior experience in an agricultural environment
• Knowledge of feed related products, services and equipment
• Skilled operation of equipment
• Maintain a valid CDL and the required DOT medical certification.

The employee is often required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of items weighing up to 100 lbs is required. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up and distant work. Must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.

Working at this facility entails continuous exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, airborne particles, extreme weather conditions and temperatures, heavy equipment and noise levels, and other attributes common to such sites. This role has regular exposure to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
