What are the responsibilities and job description for the Suicide Prevention Coordinator position at CentraCare?
You have the power to make a difference as a Suicide Prevention Coordinator! The Suicide Prevention Coordinator (SPC) will support the CentraCare system to enhance clinical best practices for identification, assessment, and treatment of patients at risk of suicide using the Zero Suicide framework. The role will also engage local communities in our service area related to suicide prevention outreach and education. Focus will be to implement suicide prevention strategies per policy throughout CentraCare with a focus on education and clinical consultation for healthcare staff and departments. Consultation will also be provided around development of workflows and suicide prevention clinical best practices.
The Suicide Prevention Coordinator will function as a consultant and assist with supporting the care coordination of patients identified at increased risk of suicide. SPC will also be responsible for coordinating a caring contacts program that will provide ongoing outreach and resource connection for those identified at risk of suicide in our system. SPC will ensure performance measures are met for suicide prevention education, identification, assessment, and treatment of suicide risk, including ongoing quality improvement process.
Schedule
- Full time | 80 hours every two weeks
- While this position is primarily a full-time Monday-Friday (8am - 4:30pm) office position, the suicide prevention program at times needs to be available for community education and events that are evening and weekends, requiring a flexible schedule with advance planning.
- This position may have opportunities for hybrid work location (work from home and office at CentraCare-Midsota) but must be able to work daily in the CentraCare catchment area as needed for in-person education, meetings, and community engagement.
Pay and Benefits
- Starting pay begins at $69,929.18 per year; exact wage determined by years of related experience.
- Salary range: $69,929.18 - $104,936.52 per year
- Salary and salary range are based on a 1.0 FTE, reduced FTE will result in a prorated offer rate

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical or Counseling Psychology required.
- State of Minnesota licensure required, need to have one of the following:
- The Board of Social Work at Independent Clinical level as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
- The Board of Marriage and Family Therapy as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- The Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- At least 3 years progressively responsible experience in social services or mental health field required
- Demonstrated experience working with culturally and/or racially diverse populations
- Familiarity with MS Office Application (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint)
- Adept database management skills and/or with industry software packages (such as Epic)
- Advanced proficiency with Excel with ability to collect, arrange and represent data accurately
- Requires successful compliance with Minnesota Law, Chapter 372 relating to sexual exploitation of patients by staff providing psychotherapy services.
