TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of position: 12 months
Hours: Full time, 40 hours
SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Visual Media Specialist is to promote public awareness of TSD, its image and brand, and its services. Achieved through social media, videos, photos, communication, marketing and community relations. Performs advanced (senior-level) graphic and multimedia design and production work. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Produces and coordinates dynamic content and publishing schedule for core social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, including producing graphics and video content and drafting timely and engaging social copy.
- Supports digital content to highlight TSD’s purpose/mission, shared value, culture, and working environment to connect with both Deaf community, alumni, donors and prospective
- Grows social media communities through proactive identification of users with aligned
- Takes photographs of events on campus and creates content for TSD’s website, Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and/or other media outlets.
- Responsible for all videography for TSD, website, and classes as
- Develops content and maintains TSD’s website Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Seeks out, researches, and videotapes campus news stories for School publications, website, and media distribution.
- Promotes goodwill and community relations for the School through working with outside community
- Prepares media materials for distribution (i.e., copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing), and assembles media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Assists with planning and coordinating events for the School if needed.
- Assists with TSD Lone Star magazine, working with Public Information Officer to assemble and illustrate content.
- Assists in coordinating distribution of global email communications with School constituents and coordinates e-blasts to the Deaf community.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in graphic arts and multimedia production.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, visitors, and other key
- Sign Language: At hire, the applicant must have sign language skills equivalent to a Signed Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) level of INTERMEDIATE. When applying, the applicant must submit documentation that the applicant believes substantiates that the applicant has achieved the proficient level required at hire. Note to Applicant: The ultimate required proficiency level for the position using the levels designated in the Signed Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) is ADVANCED. If hired with a sign language proficiency level below this level, you are required to participate in signed communication learning opportunities on a regular basis until you have achieved the sign language proficiency level assigned to your position.
Desirable Qualifications
- 5 or more years of visual design experience, including image experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and video editing software.
- Experience managing multiple projects, adjusting to changing priorities, circumstances
- Experience working in a collaborative environment with an understanding of how to leverage andsupport existing content, initiatives and contributions.
- Experience reading and interpreting documents and writing routine reports and correspondence.
