Human Resources Specialist

 

12 Month Position

  1. Must be familiar with the regulations of the following:  FMLA, ADA, Worker's Compensation, PPACA, and requirements for I-9.
  2. Must have knowledge of the Virginia Code regarding School Law for the following:  hiring practices, contracts, probationary periods, the evaluation process, non-renewals, and termination of teachers.
  3. Ability to ensure compliance with COBRA requirements.
  4. Knowledge of the Virginia Retirement System and ability to explain benefits, life insurance options, short-term/long-term disability policies provided through the Virginia Retirement System (Plan 1, Plan 2, and Hybrid)
  5. Ability to explain the EAP program to employees and provide support to Administrative Staff and Employee if/when a mandatory EAP referral is requested.
  6. Ability to maintain personnel files in compliance with legal requirements.
  7. Assist with recruiting, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, interviewing
  8. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  9. Ability to work under periods of extreme stress and high demands.
  10. Must be able to prioritize, have excellent time-management skills, and work with frequent interruption.
  11. Extensive knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite), Human Resource software packages for Recruiting and Application Management, Employee Records Management, Evaluation, computer hardware and computer servers.
  12. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  13. Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  14. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  15. Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  16. Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  17. Other duties assigned 

Required Education and Experience:

 

Bachelor's Degree preferred with a major in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or the equivalent.  

Minimum of three years Human Resources experience required, preferably in an educational setting.

 

Pay is commensurate with education and experience
