Human Resources Specialist
12 Month Position
- Must be familiar with the regulations of the following: FMLA, ADA, Worker's Compensation, PPACA, and requirements for I-9.
- Must have knowledge of the Virginia Code regarding School Law for the following: hiring practices, contracts, probationary periods, the evaluation process, non-renewals, and termination of teachers.
- Ability to ensure compliance with COBRA requirements.
- Knowledge of the Virginia Retirement System and ability to explain benefits, life insurance options, short-term/long-term disability policies provided through the Virginia Retirement System (Plan 1, Plan 2, and Hybrid)
- Ability to explain the EAP program to employees and provide support to Administrative Staff and Employee if/when a mandatory EAP referral is requested.
- Ability to maintain personnel files in compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist with recruiting, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, interviewing
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work under periods of extreme stress and high demands.
- Must be able to prioritize, have excellent time-management skills, and work with frequent interruption.
- Extensive knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite), Human Resource software packages for Recruiting and Application Management, Employee Records Management, Evaluation, computer hardware and computer servers.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
- Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred with a major in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or the equivalent.
Minimum of three years Human Resources experience required, preferably in an educational setting.
Pay is commensurate with education and experience
