About the Position
This position is critical to CAP’s operation as it provides support to other Departments by transporting stop logs, bulkhead gates, and pumping plant parts. As a Heavy Equipment Operator for CAP, you would operate all Central Arizona Project (CAP) heavy earth moving equipment for the operation and maintenance of the aqueduct system including civil structures such as protective dikes, O&M roads, drainages, etc. You would service and maintain adjustments on heavy equipment to ensure proper positioning and equipment. You would keep related records maintenance logs.
About the Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of state and federally registered Operating Engineer apprenticeship program; or five (5) years total experience operating heavy equipment which includes one (1) year experience operating heavy haul transport.
- Working knowledge of overweight and over-dimensional laws for the transport of heavy equipment.
- Working knowledge of traffic control devices, basic surveying technique, basic hand signal operations, soil and soil conditions and blueprint interpretation.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must successfully obtain a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement within nine months of hire.
