About the Responsibilities
As a Law Enforcement Agent, you would protect the Central Arizona Project (CAP) employees and property by providing a safe and secure work environment.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Initiates scheduled and unscheduled visits to select canal locations and other CAP facilities to prevent trespassing, vandalism, thefts and other criminal activity. Inspects locks, gates, fences and canal lining for signs of damage. Initiates temporary repairs and reports damage to appropriate department. Compiles information and prepares reports on incidents, accidents and complaints.
- Makes arrests and issues criminal citations for occurrences on CAP property. Prepares court presentations and testimony for criminal and civil proceedings. Coordinates information with federal, state and local prosecutors.
- Conducts surveillance and confidential investigations throughout the CAP as incidents dictate.
- Secures hazardous storage areas and conducts animal rescues. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens exists.
- Coordinates helicopter flights when necessary in the course of normal duties. Supervises contract security officers at remote sites when necessary.
- Is part of an armed emergency response team that responds 24 hours a day, seven days a week to emergency or urgent situations, e.g., employee involved accidents, alarms, employee assistance, law enforcement or fire department requests, etc.
About the Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in law enforcement or security with five (5) years of recent experience in law enforcement; OR high school diploma or equivalent with seven (7) years of recent experience in law enforcement.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse personalities and to cope with stressful and unexpected situations.
- Solid understanding of law enforcement and security functions, employee-related services.
Required Certifications or Licenses:
• Active Regular Peace Officer Certificate issued by Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST).
• Valid Arizona driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
• Functional testing required.
Preference given to candidates who have experience conducting employee or employment-related interviews and investigations.
