- The Service Technician has evolved from simply mechanical to a high end technology based field. Service Technicians have to be good listeners, paying close attention to customers in order to make a proper diagnosis for repairs. Although a majority of a technician's time is spent working on automobiles, communicating with customers about a vehicle's problem is also important. Being able to explain mechanical terminology so that a customer can understand a valuable skill. Service Technicians work with a variety of vehicles. A Service Technician must be able to use traditional tools while also using computerized shop equipment with electronic components. To be considered you must have good problem solving skills, ability to read technical diagrams and instructions, ability to understand and use computerized systems, ability to drive a range of vehicles, and ability to keep a work area tidy. You must be dependable, have a strong work ethic, and exhibit a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction. You should also have good time management, be persistent, and have good problem solving skills
Hourly compesation: 20-40 (depending on experience)
