POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for growing and maintaining the bank's book of merchant solutions clients through internal referral generation, outside prospecting efforts, and current client solicitation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prospect local businesses for merchant proposal opportunities
- Network within community to grow centers of influence
- Solicit internal referrals from other bank departments
- Conduct huddles and sales meetings/training with internal partners
- Maintain current book of business
- Update equipment as needed
- Monitor volume trends
- Review monthly reports for declining volume and closed accounts
- Be the local expert for the bank
- Attend monthly, quarterly, and annual bank and vendor meetings
- Work each merchant lead fully from application to installation
- Fact find and gather data and statements to run proposal
- Write proposals and run pricing models
- Match prospect to merchant equipment that meets needs
- Handle all incoming support calls from internal partners, customers, and prospects
- Terminal downloads and product training
- Generate cross-sell opportunities for internal partners from merchant prospects
- Maintain merchant inventory and audit requirements
- Pending docs
- Biannual Reviews
- Monthly PCI Report/calls
- Return resolutions
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be assigned other duties and responsibilities. May be assigned work or training at other assigned locations.
Requirements:
High school education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Previous experience in merchant sales or related area is desirable. A minimum of 1 year of outside sales and community networking experience is preferred. General background in bank policies, procedures, and banking regulations (state and federal); knowledge of bank products and services is desirable.
Ability to read, write, and speak English. Excellent verbal, listening and communication skills. Strong customer relations skills and ability to work with employees and customers in a cooperative manner. Ability and desire to work as part of a team, and with people of diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; accurate grammar, spelling, punctuation and standard English usage; business correspondence formats, recordkeeping and filing methods; basic math and financial calculations.
Demonstrated skill in soliciting business for bank deposit products and services. Ability to identify client needs, present banking solutions and bank products. Ability to recognize closing opportunities and retain and grow customer relationships.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Possess good judgment skills. Ability to make decisions, work independently, handle confidential information, and manage multiple tasks.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Willingness to assume additional responsibilities/duties/projects as they arise.
Ability to operate office equipment including computers, tablets and accompanying applications, calculators/adding machines, telephones, voicemail, copy machines, fax machines, and security devices.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to drive a vehicle. Must maintain a current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for bank insurance purposes.
