Central Care Cancer Center is seeking a PET/CT Assistant to support our Radiation Oncology team in delivering high-quality patient care. This role is ideal for a Radiologic Technologist, Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Phlebotomist who is detail-oriented and patient-focused. The PET/CT Assistant will work closely with the PET/CT Manager, and radiation oncology staff to ensure smooth operations during PET/CT imaging procedures while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in PET/CT imaging procedures, ensuring patient preparation and positioning according to established protocols.
- Administer intravenous (IV) contrast or radiopharmaceutical injections (if licensed and within scope of practice).
- Perform venipuncture and obtain blood samples as needed.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging to ensure safety and comfort.
- Educate patients on the procedure, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Ensure proper infection control and radiation safety protocols are followed.
- Assist in scheduling patients and coordinating with referring providers.
- Maintain and stock supplies, ensuring exam rooms are properly prepared.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-certified), RN, LPN, or Phlebotomist with appropriate licensing/certification.
- Experience in a clinical or imaging setting preferred.
- IV placement and venipuncture experience required for applicable roles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Schedule & Work Setting
- Full-time, Monday–Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule (with potential for occasional adjustments based on clinic needs).
- On-site clinical position.
