Psychologist shall perform essentially the same services as those required by any government service PSYCHOLOGIST of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Therefore, while specific tasks are outlined as listed below, responsibilities include but are not necessarily inclusive of tasks in which the PSYCHOLOGIST shall provide.
All services shall be performed in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics of the medical, and specialty professions / organizations. The standards of performance for all PSYCHOLOGIST provided by contractor shall reflect the degree of care, skill, and learning expected of a reasonably prudent Psychologist.
Required Qualification :
Shall have a minimum of one year experience within the last three years working as a PSYCHOLOGIST.
Degree : Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
Education : Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
Internship / Residency : Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
Experience : As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
Licensure : Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia
Provider shall be a U.S. Citizen.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS :
Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
Shall be sufficiently skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.
Shall be knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The PSYCHOLOGIST shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served : Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>
65).
Assess, coordinate, facilitate, deliver and evaluate care for infant to geriatric patients using the nursing process.
Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders / conditions, diagnostic studies and treatments related to prevention, and detection of illnesses in adults, is desirable.
The PSYCHOLOGIST will be knowledgeable in professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing adult and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Be a U.S citizen.
Job Responsibilities : The PSYCHOLOGIST will provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF, and IAW JC guidelines to include, but will not necessarily be limited to the following :
Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate
Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.
Perform a general physical examination. Record the findings in proper format and determine medical qualifications for various purposes. Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with the MTF procedures and IAW with JC guidelines.
Select the most appropriate diagnosis and treat in cases of uncomplicated common illnesses and injuries. Identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
Plan and initiate proper treatment within the PA's defined privileges and the scope of practice per MTF policy and procedure, and IAW with JC guidelines
Recognize those more complicated cases, initiate treatment (if appropriate), and refer to a higher level of medical expertise for diagnosis and / or treatment.
Stabilize and mange a patient in a medical or surgical emergency and / or transfer to physician care.
Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing the findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen.
Determine appropriate means of evacuation of emergency patients, prepare patients for evaluation, and arrange for evacuation support.
Possess knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Be knowledgeable in administrative requirements for the documentation of patients' conditions, progress and acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
Demonstrate and adhere to peri-operative, infection control and safety policies and procedures used in the MTF and IAW JC guidelines
Place consult referrals, arrange for procedures, and perform telephone follow-up, as appropriate.
Demonstrate good time management skills
Work under the general professional direction of the Service Chief of General Internal Medicine Service (GIMS).
Make necessary rounds on inpatients, as needed.
Maintain accurate clinical records and review consolations and laboratory work of specific patients.
The Contract HCP shall be responsible for providing medical care during required work hours, including routine call, as designated by the MTF and shall provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.
The Contract HCP shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with the JC standards, to include, but not limited to, managing daily schedules, review and disposition of consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
When assigned, serve and participate in committees, functions, and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information and assist with decision-making and process improvement.
Report to clinic manager
When required, participate in the orientation, training and evaluation of duty performance of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
As required, participate in customer services initiative and medical readiness, activities, designed to enhance health services.
Perform all clinical duties in a semi-autonomous manner and mange patients in accordance with guidelines provided by the preceptor and GIMS SOPs. A Staff physician will be available for consultation at all times. The HCW shall have knowledge of examinations and appropriate treatments based on current standards of care.
Obtain complete patient history, perform appropriate physical examinations, diagnose, and treat patients with Pain Management needs. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory, radiographic, and other diagnostic studies as indicated.
As part of the Pain Management team, manage patient presenting to the Hospital for care and ensure proper disposition, including patients who present for acute or urgent care needs (i.e immediate Referral, Emergency Care, or Direct Admission
